Put a SPRING in Your Step With NFL PLAY 60

Brought to you by the NFL and the American Heart Association

Coach Terry and friends have been super busy getting kiddos everywhere participating in Coach Terry’s Camp Training over the past couple of months. Coach Terry, Coach Sherry and pal, Flash Bolton have been working overtime creating awesome workouts that are designed to work out different parts of your body—and all these workouts will put a SPRING in your step as you move to stay healthy!

Coaches Terry and Sherry worked closely with the NFL and the American Heart Association to put together exercises that would benefit kiddos’ bodies as a whole, by breaking down the movements into upper body, lower body, and core strength workouts. Included are warm ups and cool downs because the Coaches know that it’s very important to warm our bodies up before we do a workout and to cool them down afterwards to stay loose and prevent injury.

Nicholas, Kaylen, and the other kids in the videos demonstrate how to make modifications to the exercises. For example, kids can do a modified push-up on their knees and work their way up to a full push up.

Workout Word Search

Who doesn’t love a word search? This one is extra cool because it reinforces all the workout vocabulary that has been used in each of the Champ Training videos, which can all be found in the NFL PLAY 60 Channel! Print it out at home or at school to review all the workout words in the word search and then have the kiddos demonstrate some of the moves. Everyone will have a blast!

Give Your Kids Tools to Help Manage Overall Health and Wellness

Helping your kiddos recognize and talk about how they can manage their stress and anxiety is very important for their mental health. We all want to raise smart, healthy, and resilient children. We’ve outlined some key strategies in this blog that you can put in place with the help of your child’s school and teachers, setting up supports that can set your child up for success when it comes to anxiety and stress. You can use this fun activity sheet on stretching your child's knowledge about exercise as you use movement to help combat and manage anxiety, focusing on how our minds and bodies work together, for overall health and wellness.

The American Heart Association recommends children ages 3-5 be physically active and have plenty of opportunities to move throughout the day. For kids ages 6-17, they recommend at least 60-minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity every day or most days. Using GoNoodle and the fun and engaging movement videos and activities, brought to you by the NFL and the American Heart Association, can set a strong foundation for your kiddo as they continue to make movement and health a daily goal!
